the gemini experiment: after revelation
A TEMPERATURE CHECK
In April, Saturn and Neptune traveled through new territory in Aries, eventually conjoining Mercury and Mars on the 19th. 2025’s preview of Saturn-Neptune never exceeded the 2nd degree of Aries before both planets retrograded back into Pisces for a necessary review and conclusion. Now, Saturn has moved into the second decan of Aries and is finally gaining some distance from Neptune, allowing the story to move forward concretely. April likely felt like a revealing month, centering new facets of the story in our Aries houses with added pressure. Last Summer’s preview of these transits gave us a glimpse of the larger storyline, but as the planets move forward, we’re now confronting the practical realities of our new responsibilities and foundations in this area of the chart.
One of the biggest challenges with Saturn in Aries seems to be the art of moving slowly and intentionally while still making progress. The house ruled by Aries is typically where we move quickly and boldly, but Saturn is here now to teach a lesson of sustainability and clarity before action.
WITH & WITHOUT URANUS
Now that we’ve progressed to May, the skies are looking much kinder than the month before, as long as we keep Saturn’s lessons in our back pocket. We’ll have a Mercury cazimi at 23º Taurus on May 14th, a New Moon at 25º Taurus on the 16th, followed by the Mars in Taurus ingress on the 18th. These are the first official transits through Taurus without Uranus in this sign since 2018 and I imagine we’ll be feeling that difference.
Uranus really struggles in Taurus, these are not like-minded energies. Uranus quakes and revolutionizes while Taurus desires grounded attachment and nourishment. While this transit was necessary to open us up to the reinvention of our values for the purpose of finding greater sustenance, this was done through the exhausting process of constant change.
Fatigue is a common sensation with the transiting or natal placement of Uranus because it is a place that actively destabilizes for the sake of advancement– we can see why Taurus, the literal sign of stability, is a rough place to have this planet. Now with Uranus firmly out of Taurus and into Gemini as of April 25th, the Taurus sector is looking to solidify. This is not meant to negate the last 7–8 years of Uranian upheaval and unearthing, but instead to build with these epiphanies we’ve had in mind.
Epiphany is just one of the tools that Uranus uses, but it may also resort to methods of erraticism, separation, acceleration, and experimentation. This is something to keep in mind now that Uranus is in Gemini, an entirely new sign and house, where we’ll experience the full range of these Promethean tools, all in service of awakening us to our own potential and progress
I think it’s especially poignant that the New Moon will perfect at 25º Taurus in this final decan that Uranus has been trampling through over the last three years, now it is possible to move forward slowly but tangibly. The Mercury cazimi a few days before may clarify this area of life, revealing possibilities that don’t seek to disrupt or destabilize us. Instead, they may show us which seeds are finally ready to be planted now that they can grow with greater consistency and nourishment. We may begin to see the results of Uranus leaving Taurus by the Taurus Full Moon on October 25th.
URANUS IN GEMINI
Last year’s Uranus in Gemini preview (July 7th–November 7th) gave us an early glimpse into what this seven-year transit may bring. Still, the first meaningful activation didn’t arrive until the Virgo New Moon on August 22nd, 2025. We’re in a similar phase now: Uranus is back in Gemini, but its story hasn’t fully begun yet. We have some important conjunctions happening at the end of May and throughout the Summer that will finally begin this story, but we can also look back at August 22nd through November of last year to better understand what might be coming through now.
Here are a few things to understand about Uranus in Gemini.
THE MACRO: WAR
It’s important with any outer planet to consider the larger socio-political landscape, these outer transits affect our culture and society in such a profound way that need to be taken into consideration as context for the transformation of the personal chart. In America’s history, every time Uranus has been in Gemini, we’ve entered a major war. This transit has correlated with The American Revolution (1775-1783), the American Civil War (1861-1865), and WWII (1939-1945). There is emphasis on American involvement as this would be the country’s Uranus return in the 7th house, the place of alliances and adversaries. When planets are present at the inception of a place or union, the repetition becomes important to its unfolding of the archetypal motif that wants to express itself.
The nature of these wars have followed Gemini’s archetype of information and technological improvement, along with extreme polarity between two distinct locations and sides (Britain vs. the Colonies, North vs. South, the World vs. Germany) mimicking “the twins” that symbolize Gemini’s story of dualism. Uranian influence marks these moments as periods for accelerated advancement with each conflict revolutionizing warfare. This includes developments in rapid weapon manufacturing, mass-produced medical care, updated communication tactics such as the telegraph and early computers, as well as new modes of transportation with the first extensive train use, submarines, jet engines, and rocket technology.
These wars act as a catalyst for cultural and societal development too. Starting with the initial formation of America, allowing for free thought and the establishment of a new national identity, ultimately inspiring many other independence movements. Each war has expanded the role and education of women, and has required epiphany to integrate true “freedom” with the abolishment of slavery, civil rights movements, emphasizing the fair treatment for all backgrounds and cultural identities.
Gemini largely discusses the mind and the diametrically opposed, this symbolism translates into male and female, black and white, democratic and republican– but also everything that lives on the spectrum between polarities. These tend to be times of heightened propaganda but also the spread of new ideas and information, as a result, Gemini produces an awakened mind.
THE MICRO: BACK TO THE BASICS
While we’ve already had some Uranus in Gemini activation, it’s sparse and we haven’t yet experienced hard aspects from the other two mutable signs, Gemini itself, and Pisces. Now that Uranus is here to stay in this sign until 2032, we finally have the opportunity to meet our first conjunctions in the house that Gemini rules. This will likely begin to personalize the transit and introduce us to the story that’s unfolding for each of us individually. We get to start this month with Mercury conjoining Uranus at 1º Gemini on May 17th followed by the Sun on May 22nd.
Gemini represents the fundamental building blocks as one half of the learning and mobility axis, the other side is represented by its opposite sign, Sagittarius. Language and mobility are primitive concepts, it’s a fundamental part of human development to hear our caregivers speaking to us, master our fine motor skills, and to take our first steps. As we grow older, these building blocks are used in a variety of ways, language immersion and hand-eye coordination is then used to read and write, wobbly toddler steps develop into sustained walking that can take us anywhere we want to go.
We can see with each Uranus in Gemini war, we started from some essential place that eventually allowed for rapid advancement; it will follow the same arc in our personal lives as we learn and grow throughout the transit. Sagittarius on the other end of the axis symbolizes what is beyond the fundamentals– when we no longer need to learn the skill of how to walk, we can travel to other countries and walk in foreign places. Once we’ve mastered our ABCs, we might be able to write a dissertation– you get the idea.
In reflecting on the preview period from July-November of 2025, I’ve concluded that this is a transit that brings Mirror People. These are specifically people who challenge the way that we think, communicate, and make decisions by reflecting back to us a polarity of who we are and are not. In the example of the fundamentals of early development, this learning often only occurs within the presence of other people.
This is Mercury’s rulership over Gemini, the god of communication and commerce, who relies on the art of exchange. Of course there have been popular studies of feral children raised with minimal human contact (like Genie or Victor) and because of this, we know that it’s not possible to develop language and social skills fluently without early exposure. Mercury and learning as a result, is essentially starved out without these critical interactions with other people. Uranus in Gemini may bring unexpected encounters that accelerate our learning and fluency in the area that Gemini sits in the natal chart, most likely by taking us back to something fundamental.
We’re still at the very beginning of the transit. These upcoming conjunctions over the next few months, particularly Mars meeting Uranus in July, may feel like the first undeniable spark of movement, introducing us to the instability and experimentation that will define the next several years. Still, before Gemini can take us somewhere new, it often returns us to the beginning. Back to the fundamentals, the skill that was never fully developed, the unfinished conversation, or the perspective that calcified into misguided certainty.
Uranus in Taurus spent the last 7–8 years excavating our values through disruption, forcing revelations around stability, sustainability, embodiment, and survival. Now that Uranus has changed signs, the Taurus houses of the chart are finally looking to root into the discoveries we’ve made there. What was unearthed can now be cultivated and what was destabilized can now begin to sustain itself.
Meanwhile, Uranus in Gemini asks us to stay mentally flexible as entirely new pathways begin to emerge. Not all awakenings arrive through epiphany alone. Some arrive through conversation, contradiction, movement, and unexpected encounters with people who mirror back a version of ourselves we haven’t met yet.
